Travel the World!

One of the things I’ve always loved about books and reading is how you can explore places you’ll never actually visit; you can travel the world without leaving your favorite chair.

On my Facebook author page, I asked this question: If you were transported to the setting of the book you’re currently reading, where would you be?

I just love the range of responses! Don’t you?

  • I would be wildfire fighting on the West Coast…I am currently reading “Fire” by Sebastian Junger.
  • Toes in the sand in Maui.
  • In space, in our solar system, somewhere. If I’m the exact last place I left off, on a stolen Martian space ship.
  • 1930s London!
  • An island in Maine, Manhattan, Berlin.
  • The beaches at Normandy.
  • Canals in Cambridge
  • Office of Special Counsel Robert Mueller, Washington, DC, 2017-2019
  • In the hospital
  • The English countryside and Manhattan around the turn of the 20th century.
  • Provincetown, The Maytrees by Annie Dillard
  • North Carolina
  • The seediest joints in Old Hollywood.
  • Oxford England (Jeannette winterson memoir)
  • Rural England, 1905
  • Late 1980s: Miami, LA, and NYC (so far)
  • In several places at once, as usual. Vienna, New York, London.
  • The Troubador in LA
  • Vermont late 1850’s
  • 16 c Holland
  • 1400s to 1940s Germany with the gypsies.
  • Marietta, Ohio, in 1787. It was the first settlement of the Northwest Territory in the United States. “The Pioneers”, David McCullough.
  • Barcelona (The Labyrinth of Spirits).
  • Corfu. In the mid to late 1930s.
